Mushroom Hunt
This week's show takes you to the forests around Vernon, BC, where I joined several other foodies and mycologists for a mushroom hunt. Remember, don't eat any mushrooms you can't positively identify as edible! To find a mycological society in Canada that has a web presence, click on this link http://www.fungi.ca/mycogroups.htm. You can find further links from around the world here.
Brenda Cadieux was my lead guide for the excursion. You can find her company, Misty Mountain Wild Mushroom Products, at www.mmwildmushrooms.ca.

Living Off the Land
This week's show featured Red Nettle Farm, not far from Duncan in BC's Cowichan Valley. It's an 8-acre farm owned by Rose Lippert, and sports an impressive variety of livestock and produce. If you're interested in more stories about small farms in Canada, please check out a new magazine for which I am a contributing editor. Small Farm Canada can be found in magazine racks across the country, and you can find out more about the publication by going to www.smallfarmcanada.ca
