Summer Grilling
In June I attended the 22nd Annual Food and Wine Magazine Classic in Aspen, Colorado, taking in all kinds of food and wine seminars. Two of the cooking demonstrations I attended were by grilling gurus Steven Raichlen and Bobby Flay. Here are some of their recipes, and if you want to more about them, just visit their websites. You will find Bobby Flay at www.bobbyflay.com and Steven Raichlen at www.barbecuebible.com.

Summer Sipping
Brad Stanton of Blue Water Cafe, and Jay Jones of West Restaurant are two special mixologists. They're on their way to New Zealand to compete in the World Cup of Cocktails. Here are their summertime cocktail recipes. BC Raspberries, used in Brad's recipe, are in season right now, early for 2004, and to get more info please visit: www.bcraspberries.com

Lobster
There's nothing like a visit to the Maritimes in the summer to get your fill of sweet lobster at reasonable prices. I took a Shediac Bay Cruise, just outside of Moncton, with Lobster Guy Eric LeBlanc. www.lobstertales.ca 1-888-894-2002. If you have plans to visit New Brunswick this summer, be sure to check out www.gomoncton.com for details of lots of festivals, including the Atlantic Seafood Festival August 19-22, 2004.

Fiddleheads
I had the great fortune to go fiddlehead hunting with a very experienced forager named Melvin Nash. He has written a fiddlehead cookbook called 'Cooking North America's Finest Gourmet Fiddleheads'. If you are interested in buying a copy you can email Melvin at jmnash102@yahoo.ca.
