Food Bank Fundraising
There's no Pacific Palate this week on The Early Edition, but you can catch me on the show on Friday, live from the Pacific Centre Mall Rotunda as CBC conducts its 18th annual food bank fundraising drive. I'll also appear later in the day on BC Almanac and On The Coast. And I have some fantastic incentive prizes to dole out in return for your donations. Flavours of Vancouver
CBC Radio's Flavours of Vancouver contest continues. It's your chance to submit a recipe that could win you fabulous prizes. The recipes can come from a trip you've taken where you were inspired by the regional cuisine, such as this 'susci' recipe from Moreno Miotto at Bis Moreno, a fantastic Italian restaurant in downtown Vancouver.

Oysters and Cocktails
Oysters and Cocktails were the order of this week's follow up to Cornucopia in Whistler. I featured the Rosemary Swizzle, a cocktail made using Crabapple Wine from Elephant Island Orchard Wines in Naramata. Check their website to find out where they are sold. Some stores have recipe cards for the Crabapple Wine and their Apricot Wine as well.
To find out more about the smoked oysters I talked about contact David Nikleva at Cortes Gold Seafood Company. dnikleva@island.net
I have lots of photos and more information about Oysters and Cornucopia on my blog, so make sure you check it out.

Ramadan
This week I visited Jasmine Mediterranean Foods on Main Street in Vancouver, where shopkeeper Moussa Mahaidly is in the midst of Ramadan, a month-long, sacred Islamic tradition of fasting from sunup to sundown...then feasting as the sun sets.

Gold Medal Plates
This week I welcomed former Olympic skier Steve Podborski and Hotel Vancouver Executive Chef Robert LeCrom to the show. They talked about their team effort at a fundraising event designed to raise money for our very best Olympic athletes.
