I won twice at the 2005 edition of the Canadian Farm Writers' Federation Awards. A Gold for Monthly Press Reporting and a Bronze for Press Feature. Both awards were for a story I wrote called 'Fighting Menu Fraud' for Small Farm Canada.
My syndicated radio show, Food For Thought, has been twice nominated for James Beard Foundation Media Awards. I am quite honoured as this is a North America-wide competition. I received my first nomination in 2000, with my second nomination coming in 2004. In 2006, I was nominated for my podcast, All You Can Eat.
In 2011, I was nominated for my production of The Canadian Table, a CBC Radio One special holiday program that aired across the country on Friday, April 2nd, 2010. I haven't won yet, but I'll keep on trying!
I have been associated with an award-winning program, however. I wrote the script for the 2001 Food Network documentary, 'On the Road to the Bocuse d'Or', which won a James Beard Foundation Award for best television food journalism.
